Ingredients

  • 1 package of bratwursts
  • 1 12 ounce can of beer
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can of beef broth
  • 6 ounces of sliced mushrooms
  • 1/3 cup of all purpose flour
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked egg noodles

Directions

Pour the can of beer and the beef broth into a large cast iron pan.  Place the brats into the mixture.  Cover with lid or foil and bake in the oven preheated to 400 for 40 minutes.  Remove the brats from the pan, slice width wise and set aside.  Place the pan and remaining liquid on the stove.  Over medium high heat add sour cream and stir till until well mixed.  Add salt and pepper and mushrooms, stir thoroughly. Add the all purpose flour while stirring and continue stirring until it starts to thicken.  Once thick stir the small slices of bratwurst back into the sauce.  Pour over cooked egg noodles, mix and enjoy.

Camp Fire Variation

Pour the can of beer and the beef broth into a large cast iron pan.  Place the brats into the mixture.  Cover with lid or foil and cook over well burned coals with indirect heat.  This should take around 30-40 minutes depending on the heat of your fire.  It may be necessary to slice the bratwurst to see if it is cooked.  When there is no pink remaining in the center, the brats are done.  Remove the brats from the pan, slice width wise and set aside.  Place the pan and remaining liquid on the grill.
